The Prescription Control System, commonly called SKR, is a system verifying the correctness of a prescription working in real time.
The correctness of a prescription is checked directly when filled in the pharmacy in the presence of the patient. After reading the prescription's bar code and introducing it to the pharmacy's IT system, it is automatically sent to OSOZ where it is checked if it is not stolen, lost or falsified (copied). In case of irregularities, the pharmacist is informed with a message within 2-3 seconds.
The database of stolen prescriptions is updated on the basis of data published by the branches of the National Health Fund NFZ. Thus a stolen prescription entered into the database cannot be filled by any pharmacy using the OSOZ system.
The SKR system automatically verifies also a repeated filling of the same prescription in another pharmacy. The SKR system informs the pharmacist if a prescription was stolen or printed using an existing number. As the system works in real time, each next attempt of filling the same prescription (copy) is immediately blocked. It is important both for the safety of patient's health and life, as well as economic safety of the pharmacy - the NFZ does not subsidize medicines purchased with a stolen prescription.
A very important element for pharmacists is the openness of the OSOZ system as the pharmacy can work with it regardless of the manufacturer of its pharmacy software. Any manufacturer of pharmacy software should only adjust its system to work with OSOZ, building in what is called a communication interface.
